Cow were formed in late 2006 by singer/songwriters Mark Boxall & Maxine Cook. After playing several showcase gigs we decided to record a 12 track album. What was intended to be a solely acoustic album, progressed into a collection of songs that grew in texture and flavour. The end product was a very earthy, organic acoustic pop and soul sound which involved drums, keys and Indian vibes.
In 2010 we were fortunate to support Paul Weller for 5 nights at The Royal Albert Hall, London. Later that same year we played 6 more shows on Paul Weller’s arena tour at the Brighton Centre, Birmingham NIA, Cardiff Arena, Bournemouth NIC and Wembley Arena.
The start of 2011 saw us perform a live session for Janis Long on BBC radio 2, after she heard our first album and played tracks from it on her show. ‘I love Cow, they have great songs and their own sound’ (Janis Long 2011).
Throughout 2011 we played more gigs and started writing our second album Dedicated To…The Mighty Drum. This was finished in mid March 2012 and a track from the album, Black Harvest, was used on the cover mount CD of the April edition of Mojo magazine. To coincide with this we played 3 shows at The Camden Roundhouse supporting Paul Weller on his Sonik Kicks tour.
2012 will see Cow playing The Cavern Club in Liverpool and Guilfest in Surrey as well as promotional gigs for the new album. Writing will commence for a third album.
Be happy and soulful but most of all Keep The Faith…
